CRUSH YOUR GOALS

Every February 14th, we celebrate the special people in our lives. From our romantic partners to friendships, to even familial relationships, this day is reserved for appreciating the people who make us feel loved and happy all year round. But let’s not forget the most important person in all our lives: Ourselves!  Valentine’s Day can be the day that we choose to reevaluate the relationship we have with ourselves, and the choices we make to ensure that we are happy, healthy, and motivated, every day.

This can also be a time to understand our personal relationship with fitness. Setting and achieving goals is a wonderful way to constantly challenge and motivate ourselves, but to make the pursuit of health into a competition, rather than a lifestyle, can have negative consequences on both our mind and bodies. Fitness is a way of life; it is an opportunity to de-stress, to have some ‘me’ time, to feel good, strong, and healthy in our own bodies. And today, fitness is not defined by X amount of hours spent in the gym! It can be as simple as taking a walk and spending time in nature. It can be a sport that you enjoy with friends, a shared outing that brings together camaraderie in the spirit of healthy competition. Maybe you’re an amateur chef, lookin to unlock your inner Gordon Ramsay (you can check out our variety of healthy smoothie recipes). Or it can be as simple as learning a new discipline, like a martial art form, that helps you meet new and interesting people while still helping you have fun!

So this Valentine’s Day, make fitness your partner in your life’s journey. Remember to treat it with the respect it deserves, and ensure that this is another healthy (pun intended) relationship you have in your life. At Fitness Standard™, we believe in benefiting the mind, body, and soul, altogether. We must nourish our bodies with what they need, whether it be healthy yet delicious foods, or hacks to add exercise back in your lives, or simply understanding the relationship between fitness and your body. There’s only one you so enjoy it!
